Dental Implants

A Comprehensive Overview
Understanding Dental Implants:
Dental implants are essentially artificial tooth roots that provide a permanent base for fixed replacement teeth. They are surgical fixtures placed in the jawbone and allowed to fuse with the bone over a few months, serving as a replacement for the root of a missing tooth.

Why Opt for Dental Implants?

Natural Feel and Appearance

Dental implants are designed to blend seamlessly with your other teeth. They offer a natural look and feel, allowing for more natural speech and eating.

Durability

With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. They provide a more durable and long-term solution compared to other tooth replacement options.

Bone Health

Dental implants prevent bone loss that often occurs underneath missing teeth. They stimulate the jawbone, promoting bone growth and preventing bone loss.

No Impact on Adjacent Teeth

Unlike dental bridges, implants don't require grinding down adjacent teeth. This ensures that more of your original teeth are preserved, which is beneficial for long-term oral health.

Convenience

Dental implants eliminate the inconvenience of removing and cleaning dentures, as well as the need for messy adhesives to keep them in place.

The Dental Implant Process:

Consultation and Planning

An initial examination is conducted, often accompanied by X-rays or CT scans to check the quality and quantity of the jawbone.

Implant Placement

The dental implant, made of titanium, is surgically placed into the jawbone. Over the next few months, the implant fuses with the bone in a process called osseointegration.

Abutment Placement

After osseointegration, a small connector, called an abutment, is placed on top of the dental implant to support the crown.

Crown Placement

The final step involves attaching the custom-made crown to the abutment.

Post-Treatment Care:

While dental implants have a high success rate, it’s crucial to maintain good oral hygiene. Regular dental check-ups, brushing, flossing, and avoiding chewing on hard foods will ensure the longevity of your implant.
